Say No So You Can Say Yes
Say no to the opportunities and invites that might be good, but are not your passion or your priority. How? Identify your Big Rocks.
You’ll never know unless you try
Many of us are desperate for life to slow down a little and journalling helps us step off the fast paced treadmill of our lives and pause for a few moments.
Personal Prescription
When we are unwell we go to the doctor and we take the medication they give us every day, because we know that’s what we need to do to get better. What if we thought about the specific things that we need to do every day to keep us healthy and approached them with the same commitment we would a prescription from our GP.
Red Means Stop, Green Means Go
The signs that we are reaching our capacity are different for all of us. The key is to know what they are for you, notice when you’re in amber and to take action before you tip into the red. Because nothing in your life works when you’re not.
Personal MOT
A lot has happened in the last 3 months. There has been an abnormal amount to process mentally and emotionally. Perhaps it’s time for a wellbeing MOT.
First Things First
When life gets busy things like exercise, sleep, rest and eating well can often be the first things to go. We all know how important these things are, but we often find them hard to prioritise. How ironic that the very things that nourish and sustain us, are seen as add ons that we squeeze in if we have time left over at the end of the day.
Resilience
I’ve been reflecting this week on resilience, and what it means to keep going in the context of ongoing stress and uncertainty. Psychologists define resilience as the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats or significant sources of stress.
How different personalities respond to stress
I’ve heard a lot in the last few weeks about how many of us are experiencing our shadow side in this period of lockdown. If you’re not familiar with the concept of shadow side, it’s the unconscious and therefore less developed side of our personality.
Focusing On What You Can Control
I recently had a conversation with my fellow coach and friend Laura Duggal about how we focus on what we can control rather than the things that are completely out of our control.
Morning Routine
One of the things that can really help us through times of transition and change is to have a regular routine. Many of us have lost this since lockdown and we can feel like the day is ‘happening to us’ and we can feel out of control.
Embracing Limitations
Last week I had a conversation with my fellow coach and friend Laura Duggal, who is a Career and Life Coach. We were talking about how we can accept and even embrace some of the limitations that we’re currently facing.
You Never Feel Ready
When is a good time to make a change? When you feel confident enough? When you’re less busy? When you have more money?
Time to Think
At the end of last year I sat down with my diary and journal and looked back over the past year. It was the first time I’ve done this, as I’m normally so…
Hello New Year
Its the start of a new year and 365 shiny new days lie ahead of us like the first page of a new notebook. As one year ends and a new one begins it’s…
Is It Selfish To Do What You Love?
I’ve discovered that there are two types of people in the world - those that passionately believe you should do what you love and those who believe it’s…
Embracing Uncertainty
Mess and uncertainty have moved into my life. They are not welcome visitors but I have a nasty feeling they are here to stay. We are in the middle of …
